Co2 Dragster Documentation
Identify the problem - Each student is to design and build the quickest and most aerodynamic CO2 dragster possible
Generate Ideas-
Constraints-
Criteria-
Research-
Co2 cars have a can of Co2, which once punctured, the car accelerates towards the finish line. The goal is to make a car that moves the fastest. The criteria to consider is wind resistance, and friction, both c569256*an slow down the car. Other factors to consider are weight and surface area of the car

Idea Matrix:
Generate Ideas-
- The car must not produce great amount of drag (wind resistance)
- less mass, less force needed for acceleration
- although it would weigh less the car could become unstable
- must create a design which would be aerodynamically friendly
- the longer the car the better, but not too long
- build a car with a slim body and a bump which would divert the wind resistance
- make wheels slightly smaller than the rest of the car with larger wheels in the back and smaller wheels in the front
Constraints-
Criteria-
- weight- the lower the weight the faster the car
- aerodynamic- the car must able to reduce air resistance "drift"
- acceleration- the acceleration will depend on the mass and the speed
- clean- design will be able to be cut efficiently with any major blemishes

Day 1
Today I built the graphic model using sketchup. I measured each dimension and I still have a few things to finish before I begin building my car Day 2 Today I finished my graphic model and I have asked Aaron if he could show me how to use the drill to make the axle holes. By the end of class I hope to have at least the holes and the relief cuts made for my car. Day 3 I have finished my axle holes and have cut the parts of my car that were needed. I sanded my car for the entire rest of the day, I think it is coming along smoothly Day 4 I continued sanding and refining my car, I began working on scratch as well. Day 5 We are working on Scratch today, because we are waiting for other cars to finish, Day 6 I once again worked on Scratch because we still need time for people to finish their cars Day 7 We have begun painting and I decided to coat my car in white. Day 8 I painted certain parts of the car blue to make it more resilient. Day 9 I have finished my CO2 car and I am ready to race |
